e-shram card self registration: If you have not yet registered yourself on the e-shram portal, then you should get it done immediately. In this, you not only get an accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh, but it also has many other benefits. For online registration, you can visit its official website eshram.gov.in. If you wish, you can register through Common Service Centers (CSC) or through State Government Regional Offices in Districts/Sub-Districts. In case you are getting registered by someone else, you will need to provide proper permanent address details as required while completing the registration process. CSC has given this information by tweeting on its official Twitter handle. Let us tell you that the Common Service Center (CSCeGov) is a Government of India unit working under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Why is e-shram registration necessary?

Unorganized workers get an accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh under PMSBY (Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, PMSBY) after registering on the e-labor portal. Also, in future all social security benefits of unorganized workers will be distributed through this portal.

Necessary assistance will be provided to eligible unorganized workers in situations like emergency and national pandemic through this portal. It is also advised to enter the details only after proper verification from the beneficiary. It may be noted that the e-Shram Portal was launched by the Central Government for the benefit of the unorganized workers. It is a centralized database of Aadhaar linked unorganized workers.

Workers in unorganized sectors can register on the portal for free. As already mentioned, to register on the portal, you have to go to the official website of e-Shram by clicking on the link eshram.gov.in. Documents like Aadhaar number, mobile number linked to Aadhaar and bank account number will be required to complete the registration process.

How to register online

If you want to register on e-labor portal online, then follow these steps:

  • Go to the official website of e-Labour Portal, eshram.gov.in.
  • Click on the Register on e-Shram link available on the home page.
  • Then you have to enter your Aadhaar linked mobile number and captcha code. Then click on Send OTP.
  • Follow the further instructions to complete the registration process.
  • Workers who do not have a mobile number linked with Aadhaar can register through biometric authentication by visiting the nearest CSC.
